ERP comparisons: Odoo versus other solutions

We are an Odoo integrator, so a stakeholder. In each of these ERP comparisons, Odoo goes much further than the other management tools and offers unmatched flexibility: we also say when another tool is enough.

Choosing an ERP commits the company for years. These comparisons set Odoo against the solutions companies consider most often: Sage, Cegid, SAP Business One, Dolibarr, Oracle NetSuite, Divalto, Business Central, EBP, ERPNext and Excel.

What method makes an honest ERP comparison?

Five criteria, always the same, so the comparison stays readable and honest.

  1. Scope covered: which functions are available without development.
  2. Five-year cost of ownership, including licences, integration and maintenance.
  3. Vendor dependency: who controls the roadmap and the data.
  4. Adaptability: what the software lets you configure or develop.
  5. Ecosystem: integrators, modules, community and availability of skills.

We leave it to competing vendors to price their own offers. Prices change and depend on scope: it is better to ask the vendors directly. For Odoo, the licence price is public: Odoo's Custom plan, with the Enterprise applications, is €35.90 per user per month for the first year (€44.90 afterwards), all apps included.

How to prepare your ERP choice with these comparisons

Start by identifying your starting point. Do you already use business management software? Read the matching comparison. Do you manage everything in spreadsheets? The Excel comparison will help you pinpoint when the spreadsheet stops being cost-effective.

Then compare using the same grid. An ERP is never good or bad in absolute terms: it is suited or not to your business, to your size, whether you need an SME ERP or a mid-market ERP, as well as the place you give IT in the company.

Finally, keep in mind that software is not everything. The success of a project depends first on organisation, data quality and governance. Our guides detail these points, notably the causes of ERP project failure.

Choosing an ERP is also prepared upstream of any comparison: a short ERP requirements brief, priority flows and project scoping. That is the role of ANOR's consulting practice. The free situation audit, carried out on site by a certified consultant, sets each solution against your actual flows, with the perspective of an Odoo consulting and integration firm that will say when another solution is a better fit.

Frequently asked questions about choosing an ERP

For the vast majority of SMEs and mid-sized companies, Odoo is the most complete and flexible choice. In a few cases, a very small business with simple needs or a group imposing a publisher, another solution is enough: we tell you frankly.

Because we know Odoo's limits from experience. It is in our interest that you choose a suitable solution: a poorly targeted project is costly for everyone.

Yes. Migration covers data, processes and team habits. See our Odoo migration page for the steps.

Start from your flows, not from feature lists. An ERP requirements brief fits in a few pages: the three or four chains that cost the most today, volumes, the interfaces to keep and regulatory constraints such as e-invoicing.

Then compare solutions on that precise scope. Our organisation consulting supports this scoping and process review, as project management assistance if you wish.

Between 3 and 9 months depending on scope, data quality and your teams' availability. A first limited batch can be live in 8 weeks. The Odoo licence is published, the rest is priced after scoping, never before.

Torn between two solutions?
