COMPARISON · ODOO VS HUBSPOT
Odoo or HubSpot: how to choose?
HubSpot is the benchmark for inbound marketing and SaaS CRM for teams that live by large-scale lead generation. Odoo covers that same commercial ground and goes much further: orders, delivery, invoicing and accounting in a single system, with no connector to maintain.
Our business is implementing Odoo, so we have a stake in this. This page also says what HubSpot does well and when it is enough. We are not here to sell you a solution that does not fit.
Odoo or HubSpot: the straight answer
A marketing team driving traffic and nurturing leads at scale: HubSpot is still very strong. An SME that wants to connect its CRM to its orders, logistics and accounting without re-keying data: Odoo. The two can coexist via a connector, provided the data flows are clearly defined from the start.
HubSpot was built for inbound marketing. Its strength is attracting contacts, qualifying them and handing them over to sales. Odoo takes a different angle: it connects the CRM to the entire operational chain, from the first contact through to payment collection.
The question is therefore not "which is the better CRM" but "how far do you need the tool to take you?".
What HubSpot does well
HubSpot has earned its reputation on several specific points.
The inbound marketing benchmark
Landing pages, forms, lead scoring, marketing automation workflows: HubSpot built its success on these foundations. The tool is designed to attract, convert and nurture contacts at scale.
A pleasant and well-designed CRM
Onboarding is quick and the interface is polished. Sales sequences, team email tracking and deal management are smooth. Sales reps adopt the tool without resistance.
Content and customer service
Blog, knowledge base, live chat, ticketing: HubSpot offers a complete ecosystem around the customer experience, from the first article read to the support ticket.
A free entry-level plan
A free plan is available for teams just getting started. It covers the basics of CRM and contact tracking, allowing you to begin without any upfront investment.
A large integration ecosystem
The connector library is extensive. HubSpot plugs into most tools on the market: ERP, e-commerce, support and video conferencing.
Advanced marketing reporting
HubSpot's marketing dashboards are very comprehensive: multi-touch attribution, ROI tracking by channel and sequence analysis. It is a genuine advantage for data-driven teams.
Where Odoo goes much further
HubSpot stops at the quote. That is its natural scope: generating leads, qualifying them and producing a commercial proposal. Everything that follows, the order, shipment preparation, delivery, invoice and payment collection, falls outside HubSpot's remit and requires another tool, which means a connector.
One system from prospecting to accounting
With Odoo, a quote confirmed by the customer automatically becomes an order. The order triggers stock preparation. The delivery confirms the invoice. The invoice is recorded in accounting. No connector to maintain, no re-keying of data and no discrepancy between sales data and accounting data.
Costs that do not depend on contact volume
HubSpot charges based on the number of marketing contacts and the level of features. The larger your contact base grows, the higher the bill. Odoo charges per active user: the size of your contact base has no impact on the licence price. Odoo offers the Custom plan at €35.90 per user per month in the first year, then €44.90 from the second year onwards, with all applications included.
Integrated marketing with no additional subscription
Odoo covers email marketing, SMS, marketing automation, surveys, event management and the website within the same environment as sales and accounting. No extra cost per channel and no synchronisation to manage.
- Email and SMS marketing integrated with CRM and sales
- Marketing automation with conditions based on operational data (orders, payments)
- Surveys and events in the same tool
- Native website and eCommerce, with no flows to synchronise
- Accounting and invoicing in the same database

Unmatched flexibility
HubSpot adapts within the limits of what the publisher allows. Odoo evolves to match your company's real needs.
No-code configuration
Business rules, custom statuses, views tailored to your processes: Odoo's configuration covers the vast majority of needs without writing a single line of code.
Modules on demand
Activate only what you need. Stock, manufacturing, field service, HR or eCommerce can be added progressively, without overhauling the system.
Controlled custom development
When a requirement goes beyond the standard, custom development can be added without touching the Odoo core. Version upgrades remain straightforward. The code is yours.
Open API and MCP protocol
Odoo exposes its data via a full external API. Odoo 20 adds MCP connectivity, allowing external AI agents to interact directly with your operational data.
Odoo's technical foundation: PostgreSQL, Python and AI in Odoo 20
HubSpot is a proprietary SaaS platform. Odoo is built on open and high-performance technologies: PostgreSQL as the database (robust, open source and extremely fast) and Python as the framework language, which is also the dominant language in artificial intelligence.
Odoo 20 takes a significant further step with deeply integrated AI: 52 AI modules in the Enterprise edition, compared with 15 in Odoo 19. In practice, this means active agents in sales, purchasing, stock, project management, helpdesk and email marketing, AI-calculated fields, an AI action server and MCP connectivity to plug external agents directly into your data.
For a sales and marketing team, this opens up concrete possibilities: automatic prioritisation of opportunities, AI-assisted follow-up drafting, payment delay analysis and stock anomaly detection, all within the same tool as your CRM.
When to choose HubSpot, when to choose Odoo?
1
Choose HubSpot if…
Your team relies on large-scale inbound marketing, produces content, manages dozens of sequences and needs very granular marketing reporting. The rest of your operations are already handled elsewhere and you are comfortable managing the connector between the two systems.
2
Choose Odoo if…
You want to connect your CRM to your orders, stock and accounting without re-keying data or maintaining a fragile connector. Your marketing contact base is growing and you do not want your tool's price to follow the same curve.
3
Consider both if…
HubSpot handles the top of the funnel and Odoo takes over as soon as an order is confirmed. This combination is workable, but it requires a rigorous definition of data flows from the outset to avoid duplicates and synchronisation issues.
A situation audit to decide for your specific case
Theoretical comparisons have their limits. What matters is your sales pipeline, the size of your contact base, how you manage orders and the specifics of your accounting.
ANOR offers a complimentary situation audit: we look at your current processes, your volumes and your constraints, then give you an honest opinion on what suits you. If HubSpot is enough, we will say so.
Frequently asked questions about Odoo and HubSpot
On the core CRM fundamentals (pipeline, opportunities, activities, quotes and communication history), Odoo is complete and pleasant to use. HubSpot is more advanced on marketing automation and multi-channel reporting. If your priority is connecting the CRM to operations (orders, stock and invoicing), Odoo has no equivalent. If your priority is large-scale inbound marketing, HubSpot retains the advantage on that specific ground.
Yes, the two can coexist. HubSpot handles lead generation and qualification, while Odoo takes over as soon as a deal is won. A connector is needed to synchronise contacts and opportunity statuses. This scenario works, provided it is clearly structured from the start: defining which tool is the source of truth for each type of data and how flows move between them.
Yes. HubSpot allows you to export contacts, companies and deals. Odoo imports them using its native data import tools. The quality of the migration depends on the structure of your HubSpot data and the cleaning carried out before import. We support this work as part of a migration project. See our guide on data migration and our page on Odoo migration.
Yes. Odoo covers email marketing, SMS, automation workflows, surveys and event management within the same environment as sales and accounting. The key difference from HubSpot: automation conditions can be based on operational data (a delivered order, an unpaid invoice, a stock level). HubSpot remains more powerful for lead scoring and very large-scale content marketing.
Odoo charges per active user, regardless of the number of contacts stored or emails sent. The Odoo Custom licence is €35.90 per user per month in the first year, then €44.90 from the second year onwards. HubSpot offers plans whose price varies according to the volume of marketing contacts and the level of features: check the publisher's website directly for current pricing. For companies with a rapidly growing contact base, the difference in pricing structure is worth modelling against your real volumes. See our guide on how much Odoo costs for full licence details.
