Odoo versions: new features, support status, migration

Odoo releases one major version a year and supports three. Each version brings its share of features and leaving the support window changes things depending on your hosting.

This page lists Odoo versions 15 to 20 with their actual support status as of 2 October 2026 and, for each one, its most notable contribution. Each version has its own page: new features by application, interface and technical changes, breaking points during migration.

What is the support status of each Odoo version?

The publisher supports the three latest major versions, which means three years of standard support after each release. Since the release of Odoo 20, the window covers versions 20, 19 and 18. Beyond that, no more security fixes are published.

VersionReleasedStatus as of 2 October 2026What it means
Odoo 20September 2026Latest version, supportedThe natural choice for a new project or a migration
Odoo 19September 2025Previous version, supported, most widely deployedSolid for an ongoing project, plan the migration to 20

Out of support: what it changes depending on your hosting

  • On Odoo.sh: the platform requires a supported version. The migration is unavoidable and goes into the calendar before support ends.
  • On a dedicated server: the version keeps running. The publisher simply stops publishing security fixes. The risk depends on how exposed the database is on the internet and on how sensitive the data is. Our advice: plan the migration rather than have it forced on you.

One page per version: what each one brought

How do you choose your Odoo version?

The choice depends on where you are starting from. Here is the rule we apply.

You are starting a new project

Start on the latest version, Odoo 20. You get the longest support period. Just check that the custom developments and third-party modules you need are available in that version.

You are on Odoo 18 or 19

You are still supported, so there is no urgency. Plan the migration to 20 before your version leaves the support window, especially on Odoo.sh. The longer you wait, the more custom code there is to rework.

You are on Odoo 17 or earlier

You no longer receive security fixes. On a dedicated server, you keep control of the date; on Odoo.sh, the platform expects a supported version. In both cases, every year of waiting makes the migration longer and more expensive. An ERP migration takes 2 to 9 months depending on scope: read our Odoo migration page.

Community, Enterprise and hosting

Choosing a version goes hand in hand with two other decisions: the edition and the hosting. Odoo Online (SaaS) is designed for the standard product, Odoo.sh allows custom modules and test environments and a dedicated server gives you full control. These points are detailed in Community or Enterprise and SaaS, Odoo.sh or server.

Frequently asked questions about Odoo versions

Three. The publisher supports the three latest major versions, currently versions 20, 19 and 18, each for three years after its release.

It depends on the hosting. On Odoo.sh, the platform requires a supported version: the migration is unavoidable. On a dedicated server, the version keeps running, but the publisher no longer publishes security fixes; the risk depends on how exposed the database is and on how sensitive the data is. New connectors and regulatory changes, such as electronic invoicing, land on supported versions.

Not necessarily if you are on Odoo 19 or 18, which remain supported. However, if you are on 17 or earlier, the migration should be planned without delay, especially on Odoo.sh.

Yes, a migration can span several versions, but a bigger gap increases the number of views, fields and custom developments to rework. That is what makes waiting costly.

Odoo 17 for the interface, Odoo 19 for artificial intelligence and Odoo 20 for access rights and field service. Each version page details these changes application by application.
