Odoo ERP for distribution

You move products between suppliers, warehouses and resellers: your performance rests on availability, lead times and logistics cost.

An Odoo ERP is a complete distribution management software: purchasing, multi-warehouse inventory management, B2B sales, order picking, deliveries and accounting in a single database. Every warehouse, channel and customer sees the same availability, instead of reconciling files.

ANOR deploys Odoo with 63 years of Odoo combined across its partners. As an Odoo integrator, we first handle your logistics flows within the standard: transfers between warehouses, channel price lists, carriers, returns. We only consider custom development as a last resort.

Distribution or trading: what changes

A distributor handles volumes, several warehouses and often several customer categories: resellers, buying groups, professionals, sometimes consumers. Everyday questions concern availability in the right place, speed of picking and shipment and the terms specific to each channel. A distribution ERP is therefore judged on its logistics flows first.

If your business is mainly buying and reselling with a margin to watch item by item, the trading page describes the suitable approach. Many companies are both: we then scope the two aspects in the same project.

AppRole in distributionTypical batch
InventoryWarehouses, transfers, routes, deliveries and returnsBatch 1
PurchaseWarehouse replenishment, suppliers, lead timesBatch 1
SalesChannel price lists, terms by customerBatch 1
AccountingInvoicing, reconciliation, reminders, analysis by channelBatch 2

The timeline depends on the number of warehouses, the order volume and the quality of your item master. We price it after a 30-minute conversation, never blind.

Your distribution challenges, handled in Odoo: stock, picking, delivery, channels

Each challenge is linked to the app that handles it.

Multi-warehouse inventory management

Stock by warehouse and location, reservation at order, transfers between warehouses traced end to end. Every team sees what is really available.

Odoo Inventory

Network replenishment

Minimum stock rules by warehouse, supplier lead times and requests for quotation: Odoo proposes the purchase orders and you decide.

Odoo Purchase

Prices by channel and by customer

Price lists by customer category, volume or period, configured discounts: the right price applies without re-keying.

Odoo Sales

Self-service B2B orders

Your resellers order online with their prices and their history, on the same stock as your sales teams.

Odoo eCommerce

Picking, deliveries and carriers

Batch or wave picking with barcode scanners, delivery notes, labels, parcel tracking and carrier choice from the order, with connectors to the main carriers.

Odoo Inventory

Returns and disputes

Customer returns, credit notes and transport disputes are traced from the original delivery. Stock and accounting stay consistent.

Points to scope before starting

Exchanges with buying groups

An EDI with a buying group or a major customer is kept through a connector or a dedicated interface. Format and frequency are checked before pricing.

External logistics platform

If a provider runs your warehouses, we define with them the flows exchanged with Odoo: orders, receipts, stock statuses.

Commercial terms

Discounts, rebates and back margins are configurable. A calculation on cumulated targets is scoped at diagnosis, so that no parallel spreadsheet remains.

Order volumes

Beyond a certain number of lines per day, architecture and hosting are sized from the scoping phase.

The four prerequisites of a distribution ERP project

Before adding a channel or a warehouse, four foundations decide whether the project succeeds. We check them during a free situation audit, then handle them in the first batch. When the flows deserve to be redesigned before the tool, our organisation consulting takes over: a 3 to 8 week process review, from receipt to delivery, which then serves as the requirements document.

  • Reliable stock: any gap between theoretical and physical stock produces overselling, stock-outs and impossible deliveries. Cycle counts and barcodes go in from batch 1.
  • One tool for every channel: orders by phone, online, by EDI or from a field sales rep all enter the same database. Double entry and pricing errors disappear with them.
  • Clean item data: purchase and sales units, packagings, supplier references, barcodes. A reliable item record underpins the whole purchase, stock and sales chain.
  • Margin visible at order time: when purchase prices move, waiting for month-end closing to know your profitability means steering blind. Odoo shows the margin on each line.

Replenishment proposals take into account minimum stock rules by warehouse, supplier lead times and customer orders already confirmed. The master production schedule adds a demand forecast per period for fast-moving items.

How ANOR runs a distribution project

1

Diagnosis

Warehouses, channels, carriers, exchanges with buying groups: we note what exists and what causes problems.

2

Scope in batches

Batch 1 puts the day-to-day flows into Odoo. The following ones enrich, each with its own go-live date.

3

Data migration

Partners, items, stock by warehouse and outstanding balances are cleaned then loaded, with a temporary double entry if needed.

4

Cutover and follow-up

Go-live on a cut-off date, then support and maintenance after start-up.

Practical examples at a distributor

  • An order picked in the warehouse with the barcode terminal, from the location slip to the carrier label.
  • A replenishment computed from sales and stock levels, with the supplier order proposed.
  • Pickings grouped in waves to limit movement in the warehouse.
  • Parcel tracking attached to the order, visible to customer service.
  • A dashboard of service level, turnover and stock-outs by product family.

Odoo 20 AI for distribution

Odoo 20 embeds AI in a particularly advanced way: AI agents in the applications, AI-computed fields and connection to external tools through the MCP protocol. Your distribution business benefit without heavy development: we check with you which uses bring a real gain before enabling them.

Questions from distributors

The questions that come up at the start of a distribution project.

Distribution management software has to hold the whole flow: warehouse replenishment, multi-warehouse inventory management, order picking, delivery and invoicing by channel. Odoo covers that chain as standard, with resellers' B2B orders on the same stock.

It is an ERP for SMEs that grows with the network: you start with one warehouse and one channel, then extend batch after batch. The starting scope is set during a 30-minute conversation.

Yes. Each warehouse has its own locations and replenishment rules. Every transfer is traced end to end.

Yes. Price lists are configured by customer category, volume or period. They apply automatically on quotes and orders.

Yes, with the eCommerce app: each one finds their prices, their history and the real availability of stock. The exact scope is defined according to your ordering rules.

Odoo offers connectors with the main carriers. Carrier choice, label and tracking are handled from the delivery. We check the compatibility of your carriers at diagnosis.

The Odoo "Custom" licence costs €35.90 per user per month for the first year, then €44.90 from the second year. Purchase, inventory, sales, multi-company and external APIs are included.

The implementation budget depends on the number of warehouses, the flows to interface and the data migration. It is priced after a conversation with a consultant.

Yes. Replenishment combines minimum stock rules by warehouse, supplier lead times and minimums and confirmed customer orders. For fast-moving items, the master production schedule lets you enter a demand forecast per period and launch purchases at the right time.

Yes. Each lot or serial number is tracked at receipt, during transfers between warehouses and at delivery. Expiry dates are managed for the products that have them. In the event of a recall, you find the customers concerned in a few clicks.
