Odoo accounting and finance: a continuous reading, not a periodic one
Your accounts are the exact mirror of your activity, provided information flows without re-entry between sales, operations and finance. Odoo makes that flow natural, given rigorous configuration.
Odoo accounting and finance rests on a simple rule: the entry is born from the operation. The customer invoice follows from the order or the delivery, the vendor bill from the receipt, the payment from the imported bank statement. The accountant checks and decides instead of typing. Closing is prepared every week rather than endured every quarter.
ANOR stands alongside finance departments with 63 years of Odoo combined across its partners and 5 certified consultants. We configure the chart of accounts, journals, taxes, fiscal positions and analytic plans according to your sector, never generically. This page is part of our series on your business needs. Our consulting completes the tool: process review of the purchase, sales and invoicing chain and organisation consulting for a shorter close, with a complimentary situation audit to begin.
Accounting software built into the ERP: what the finance department gains
Short answer: Odoo accounting and finance covers general accounting, customer and vendor invoices, e-invoicing, bank reconciliation, matching, VAT, analytics, budgets, fixed assets and cash flow monitoring, in the same database as sales and purchasing.
- Reliability: invoices are generated from orders and deliveries, vendor bills are read by automatic recognition and go through an approval flow.
- Calm closings: lock dates, consistency checks, supporting documents reachable from the entry, read access for your chartered accountant.
- Anticipated cash flow: receivables, vendor due dates and VAT deadlines consolidate into a short and medium-term cash projection.
- Built-in compliance: French chart of accounts, accounting entries file, Factur-X and UBL formats, exchanges through an approved platform.
- Steering: analytics by project, department or site, budgets tracked in real time, margin by product and by customer.
Accounting is included in Odoo's "Custom" licence: €35.90 per user per month for the first year, then €44.90 from the second year, with all the other applications.
What ANOR brings together for accounting and finance
Each workstream matches a real function of Odoo's Accounting application, configured within the standard.
E-invoicing
Factur-X and UBL formats, sending and receiving through the vendor's approved platform thanks to the module dedicated to France, Peppol network for your foreign customers. We check your mandatory data before the first issue.
Bank reconciliation
Online bank synchronisation or import of CAMT, OFX, QIF and CSV statements. Reconciliation models suggest the matches, the accountant validates what remains with one click.
Matching and collections
Matching of customer and vendor accounts, aged balance, automated follow-up levels by email, letter or SMS, customer portal to view and pay invoices.
VAT and returns
Taxes by product and by fiscal position, VAT report prepared from the entries, locking of declared periods, one-stop-shop scheme for intra-EU online sales.
Analytics and budgets
Several analytic plans at once: project, department, site, product. Budgets by plan and by period, compared with actuals and with purchase order commitments.
Fixed assets and loans
Asset created from the purchase invoice, straight-line or declining depreciation, disposal with gain or loss calculation, loan schedules and interest entries.
Cash forecasting, multi-company and legacy data
Cash flow monitoring in Odoo relies on data already entered: open customer invoices, vendor due dates, scheduled payments, SEPA direct debits and ISO 20022 credit transfers issued from the application. The cash flow statement and the aged balance give an immediate reading. For finer forecasting, Odoo spreadsheets read the entries directly.
- Groups and subsidiaries: several companies in the same database, shared or separate chart of accounts, inter-company invoices generated automatically, exchange differences posted.
- Legacy data: chart of accounts, partners, opening balances, open invoices and assets in progress. The full history is discussed according to its real usefulness.
- Reports: balance sheet, profit and loss, intermediate management balances, general ledger, trial balance and custom reports, exportable to your accounting firm.
The application is detailed on our Odoo Accounting page. If your current chart of accounts must enter Odoo without re-entry, our chart of accounts import module takes care of it.
Dashboards that truly serve finance
Odoo's financial indicators are calculated on today's entries, with no export or manual consolidation. The finance department follows the current month instead of commenting on the past one.
- Revenue invoiced, collected and outstanding, by company, by customer and by analytic axis.
- Customer and vendor aged balance, average payment delay, overdue amounts by follow-up level.
- Cash position by bank account and projection over known due dates.
- Actuals against budget, by analytic plan and by period, including purchase commitments already placed.
- Closing progress: unmatched entries, unreconciled statements, vendor bills awaiting approval.

Questions from finance departments
The questions that come up during a first conversation with an accounting team.
Odoo offers a module dedicated to France to issue and receive invoices through the vendor's approved platform, in Factur-X and UBL formats. Receiving has been mandatory for all VAT-registered companies since 1 September 2026 and issuing will apply to SMEs from 1 September 2027.
Your organisation's compliance depends on your master data and your real flows: we check them on a sample before generalising.
Yes. Online bank synchronisation covers many French and European banks. Otherwise, statements are imported in CAMT, OFX, QIF or CSV format. SEPA credit transfers and direct debits are generated from Odoo.
Reconciliation models recognise labels, amounts and invoice references and suggest the match. The accountant validates, adjusts or matches manually what remains. Unmatched entries appear in the closing follow-up.
Yes. The French balance sheet, profit and loss and intermediate management balances are provided. The report builder lets you create others, by company, by analytic axis or by period, then export them to your chartered accountant.
Through separate groups for invoicing, accounting, review and administration, record rules by company and lock dates. Sensitive actions are traced on the entry concerned.
We always migrate the chart of accounts, partners, opening balances, open invoices and assets in progress. The detailed history of closed years is migrated when it is really useful, for analytics or comparisons for example.
Yes for a French SME or mid-sized company: general and sub-ledger accounting, VAT, fixed assets, e-invoicing, reports and the statutory audit file are covered. Your chartered accountant keeps read access and their exports. Accounting scoping sets what is migrated and on which date.
Yes. Beyond configuration, our consultants set up cash forecasting, budgets and financial steering dashboards, then support their reading. The complimentary situation audit is the starting point.
