Odoo 19: new features, migration and support

Released in September 2025, Odoo 19 is now the version before Odoo 20. It is also the one you most often meet in production.

This page details what Odoo 19 brought, application by application: artificial intelligence, accounting, sales, purchase, inventory, manufacturing, human resources, ESG, website, point of sale and project. It then covers its support status depending on your hosting and what to anticipate before moving to Odoo 20.

Where does Odoo 19 stand on support?

Since the release of Odoo 20, Odoo 19 is the previous version. It still receives its fixes. It remains the most widely deployed version and therefore the best known to integrators, third-party module publishers and in-house teams.

The point to watch is the three-version rule: with each new major version, the oldest of the three leaves support. When that day comes, what happens next depends on your hosting. On Odoo.sh, the platform requires a supported version: the migration goes into the calendar. On a dedicated server, the database keeps running without new security fixes; the risk depends on how exposed the instance is and on how sensitive the data is. In both cases, better to choose the migration date than to have it forced on you.

What Odoo 19 brought, application by application

The most structuring release in several years: artificial intelligence enters every application and two new applications appear. Every point below appears in the official release notes.

Artificial intelligence

Contextual AI agents that rely on your documents and your database, natural-language queries on records, an AI button in the top bar, fields filled by AI, email drafting and summarising, a live chat agent that generates leads, meeting transcription. You choose the provider, ChatGPT or Gemini.

Accounting

VAT return with consistency checks, simplified bank reconciliation with draft reconciliation and keyboard shortcuts, manual OCR correction, composite annual statement (balance sheet, P&L, trial balances), invoices flagged for accountant review, follow-ups via WhatsApp, light audit trail enabled by default.

Sales and CRM

Catalog sections in quotations with hideable prices and composition, optional products editable by the customer from the portal, commission adjustment between salespeople, AI-estimated win probability, leads created from a scanned business card, quick contact creation from the Kanban card.

Purchase

Alternative requests for quotation created in one go, purchasing based on forecasted demand, dynamic purchase catalog with suggested quantities, RFQs grouped by expected arrival date, vendor bill uploaded directly from the purchase order.

Inventory and Barcode

Packagings merged with units of measure, packages within packages, several routes combinable on an order line, replenishment quantities suggested from history, new valuation closing interface, late availability filter, shipping notifications via WhatsApp. Barcode edits lot properties.

Manufacturing

Gantt view of manufacturing orders, several lots or serial numbers generated from a single order, operation costing at actual or fixed cost, employee hourly cost included in valuation, simpler order splitting, full subcontracting reception. Shop Floor is redesigned and lets you modify an order's routing.

Human resources and payroll

Employee record and contract merged with version history, overtime rulesets, monthly attendance and time off ledger, pay runs with payslip correction, net salary split across several accounts, talent pool and job matching score in Recruitment, physical expense cards, time off with non-uniform durations.

ESG and Equity

New ESG app: carbon footprint in tCO₂e by scope, physical or monetary emission factors, IPCC database, social metrics for gender parity and pay gap, integrated with Accounting, Employees, Fleet and Payroll. New Equity app to track shares, shareholders and valuations.

Website, eCommerce, Point of Sale and Project in Odoo 19

The applications facing your customers and your field teams also gained concrete features.

  • Website: new building blocks, SEO checks and best practices on records, form field validation, customisable portal login and signup pages, simplified builder interface, mega menus on mobile.
  • eCommerce: product synchronisation with Google Merchant Center, stock availability for Click & Collect, unit of measure selector, cash on delivery with all delivery methods, quick reordering from the cart or the portal, better-indexed product pages.
  • Point of Sale: presets (schedules and service modes), courses in restaurants, allergen management for self-ordering, preparation time report, one-click payment validation, minimal rights employee profile, settling of due customer accounts, GrabFood and GoFood delivery.
  • Project: project and task templates, task created automatically when a service product is confirmed, private projects shared with portal users, Gantt view on the portal, several priority levels, drag-and-drop scheduling in the calendar.
  • Appointments and Events: group sessions with capacity control, booking from Google Maps (Google Reserve), reusable questions, multi-slot events, cancelling an event that stays published.
  • Online payments: Redsys (Spain), Iyzico, Paymob, DPO, ECPay, Trustly at Mollie, Amazon Pay and Twint at Stripe, Lazada marketplace.

What interface and technical changes came with Odoo 19?

  • Speed: cached data and translations, screens already visited load faster and the control panel appears before the data loads.
  • Productivity: simplified activities, bulk follower management, shared favourite filters, import templates for contacts, leads, orders, entries and tasks, imported records shown after import, incremental mass editing with the +=, -=, *= and /= operators.
  • Messaging: connect a personal Gmail or Outlook account for sending, out-of-office reply, reply to and forward a specific message, PDF previews in the chatter.
  • Mobile: bottom-sheet date picker, select-all button, smaller status bar, pull-to-refresh in the progressive web app.
  • Discuss and Phone: status (online, away, do not disturb), background blur in video calls, picture-in-picture, mentions of role groups, call recording and transfer.
  • Documents and Sign: AI-driven sorting and actions, dynamic employee folders, journal entry created from a document; multi-document envelopes, revamped interface, sending via WhatsApp, template update without recreating it.
  • Technical: company autocomplete by Dun & Bradstreet, SMS via Twilio, readable action names in URLs, HTML property fields, logging of property field changes.

What breaking points before moving to Odoo 20?

Upgrading from Odoo 19 to Odoo 20 is a single version jump, the simplest possible. It still requires precise checks, which our comparison of the source code of the two versions lets us target:

  • Access rights: record rules disappear in favour of a domain carried by the access right itself, which affects any company that manages its rights in fine detail.
  • Printed documents: a new print engine coexists with the old one and the watermark or background image option on reports disappears with no replacement.
  • Field service: the Field Service app is discontinued, its features move into Planning, with organisation and training to be reviewed.
  • Human resources: work entries and the Planning-Payroll integration disappear, work entry types and time off types merge, remote work and the org chart join the core of the Employees app.
  • Project: the dashboard profitability report gives way to dedicated budget and margin reports.
  • Delivery: the dedicated Mondial Relay modules disappear, pickup points go through the Sendcloud connector.
  • French payroll: the French payroll modules are not present in the Odoo 20 Enterprise sources we analysed. A point to check before any migration if your business depends on it.

Custom modules and third-party modules come on top of this list: each must be ported or replaced. The full detail is on the Odoo 20 page.

Should you migrate from Odoo 19 now?

It depends on your situation, not on a universal timetable.

Staying on Odoo 19 is reasonable if

  • your operations are stable and the version covers your needs;
  • your custom or third-party modules are not yet available for Odoo 20;
  • it is a busy period for your teams (year-end closing, stocktaking, peak season).

Plan the migration now if

  • you are waiting for a feature specific to Odoo 20;
  • you are on Odoo.sh and want to stay within the support window without time pressure;
  • you prefer a single version jump to several later on.

You are coming from Odoo 18, 17 or 16

From Odoo 18, a single jump is enough. From Odoo 17 or 16, the jumps follow one another version by version on the data, each tested on a copy of the database. For a project starting now, we compare Odoo 19 and Odoo 20 against your module list: 19 has more track record and more third-party modules, 20 the longest support period. Our method is described on the Odoo migration page.

Frequently asked questions about Odoo 19

Yes. The publisher supports the three latest major versions: Odoo 20, Odoo 19 and Odoo 18. Released in September 2025, Odoo 19 gets three years of standard support, until September 2028 according to the publisher's planned schedule.

No. Odoo 20 was released in September 2026. Odoo 19 remains a solid version for production and the most widely deployed, but it is no longer the latest.

It depends on your hosting. On Odoo.sh, the platform requires a supported version: the migration is unavoidable and is planned ahead. On a dedicated server, the database keeps running without new security fixes; the risk depends on how exposed the instance is and on how sensitive the data is. We advise planning the migration rather than having it forced on you.

Artificial intelligence in every application (agents, AI fields, natural-language search), the new ESG app, the guided VAT return, packagings merged with units of measure, the versioned employee record and project and task templates.

Yes, with a migration prepared on a copy of the database, tested and then replayed at the time of the switch. The downtime depends on the data volume and on custom developments.

Not automatically. Each module must be reviewed, tested and adapted. Changes to access rights, printing and field service are the most common causes.
