Comparison · Odoo vs the leading CRM platforms

Odoo CRM Comparison: HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho or Sellsy, which one should you choose?

A standalone CRM is enough for a sales team just starting out. As soon as quotes, invoicing, stock, projects or support need to follow an opportunity, Odoo CRM removes the need for re-entry and connectors to maintain.

Our business is implementing Odoo, so we are not a neutral party. This page also explains what each solution does well and when it is sufficient, because a poor CRM choice costs far more than a subscription.

Here you will find a CRM comparison table of Odoo against each competitor, a verdict by company profile, links to detailed pages and a FAQ to help you decide based on your situation.

The direct answer: which CRM for which profile?

Every CRM listed above solves a real problem. The question is not 'which is the best CRM' but 'which tool covers my business scope without creating new silos'.

A sales manager running email campaigns, scoring leads and measuring marketing ROI has very different needs from a managing director who wants to see, on a single screen, the opportunity, the quote sent, the confirmed order and the invoice paid.

What each CRM does particularly well

Stated honestly: each of these solutions has genuine strengths. Here is what they do better than average.

HubSpot

Advanced marketing automation, lead scoring, email workflows and inbound reporting. A highly polished interface for marketing teams generating traffic and nurturing a pipeline at scale.

Where Odoo CRM goes much further

Odoo CRM is not a separate tool: it is native to the same database as sales, purchasing, stock, invoicing, projects, support and manufacturing. When an opportunity becomes a sales order, nothing needs to be re-entered: information flows through the system.

From pipeline to payment in a single system

  • A CRM opportunity generates a quote in one click, with no copy-pasting or exports.
  • A confirmed order automatically triggers a stock reservation or a manufacturing order.
  • A dispatched delivery creates the invoice. Payment closes the record.
  • The customer service team sees the full history: contract, deliveries and all exchanges.

Marketing automation included

Odoo 20 includes email marketing, SMS, marketing automation and event management modules that are directly connected to the CRM. No third-party connector to maintain: contact lists, scores and campaigns all share the same database.

Particularly advanced AI in Odoo 20

Odoo 20 Enterprise includes 52 artificial intelligence modules, compared with 15 in Odoo 19. AI agents assist sales teams with automatic lead qualification, next-action suggestions, email drafting and revenue forecasting. Everything is built on Python, the dominant language in AI and PostgreSQL, a high-performance open-source database.

Odoo CRM or HubSpot?

HubSpot is the reference choice if inbound marketing and lead generation are at the heart of your business. As soon as a sale needs to trigger a delivery or an invoice, Odoo avoids the need to stack connectors.

Odoo CRM or Salesforce?

Salesforce offers unmatched customisation and ecosystem depth for large organisations with a dedicated administrator. For an SME or mid-market company looking for a complete ERP without a Salesforce budget, Odoo is the serious alternative.

Unmatched flexibility: open code, free choice of hosting and native AI

Almost all CRM platforms on the market are proprietary SaaS products: you depend on their roadmap, their pricing and their infrastructure. Odoo offers a genuine choice.

  • Community and Enterprise editions with open code: the Enterprise code is readable under the OPL licence and Community is open source (LGPL). You are never locked into a black box.
  • Three hosting options: Odoo Online (SaaS managed by Odoo), Odoo.sh (cloud with your custom modules and test environments) or a dedicated on-premise server if your security policy requires it.
  • PostgreSQL as the database: open source, high-performance, well documented and supported by a large global community.
  • Python as the framework language: readable, standard and the dominant language in AI. Your developers do not need to learn a proprietary language.
  • 52 AI modules in Odoo 20 Enterprise: sales agents, AI-calculated fields, AI action server and MCP connection. The AI is built into the tool, not an add-on to subscribe to separately.

This architecture explains why industrial SMEs, service companies and trading businesses choose Odoo CRM: they want a CRM that grows with them without a full overhaul every three years.

Which CRM to choose based on your company's size and sector?

You are just starting out or your sales team is small

A lightweight CRM is enough. HubSpot or Sellsy are quick to get up and running. Odoo CRM also works well in this configuration, with the advantage that you can activate additional modules without switching systems when the need arises.

You sell to businesses (B2B) with a long sales cycle

Managing contacts, staged opportunities, planned activities and personalised quotes is where Odoo CRM naturally excels. The pipeline is visual, follow-ups can be automated and every opportunity is linked to its full history.

Your sale triggers a delivery, a purchase or production

This is where Odoo makes the real difference. A standalone CRM forces you to export data, re-enter it in an ERP or maintain a fragile connector. With Odoo, an opportunity becomes a sales order, the order triggers replenishment and the delivery generates the invoice: everything is in the same system.

You have a dedicated CRM administrator and a large enterprise

Salesforce remains the reference in this context. Its partner and certification ecosystem is very well developed and its large-scale customisation capability is widely recognised.

You are looking for a Salesforce alternative for an SME

Odoo is regularly cited as a Salesforce alternative for SMEs and mid-market companies that want genuine customisation without an enterprise licence cost. The scope is broader (a full ERP) and Odoo's pricing is transparent.

Frequently asked questions about choosing a CRM

Yes. Data migration is a standard step in any Odoo project: contacts, companies, opportunities, activities and exchange history are all imported from HubSpot or Salesforce exports. The quality of the result depends on the quality and structure of the source data. We document this step in our guide on data migration: /guides/reprise-de-donnees.

Yes. Odoo includes email marketing, SMS marketing, automation modules (sequences triggered by CRM events) and event management. These tools are directly connected to the CRM: a marketing action can create or qualify a lead and a lead that moves to an opportunity can trigger an automated email. Odoo 20 goes further with AI agents capable of drafting and sending emails in context.

The comparison depends on the scope you choose. Odoo offers its Custom plan at €35.90 per user per month in the first year, then €44.90 from the second year onwards, with all applications included. For HubSpot, Salesforce and Zoho, pricing varies significantly depending on the tier chosen and the number of users: check each publisher's website directly. Our guide on Odoo costs explains what the licence covers: /guides/combien-coute-odoo.

This is technically possible via Odoo's APIs (included in the Custom plan). In practice, this setup adds complexity and a risk of duplicate data. We generally recommend a clean migration rather than a long period of coexistence. If your current CRM needs to remain active for a few months, we discuss this during the situation audit.

A limited initial scope (CRM, sales and invoicing) can be up and running in 8 weeks. A full project including stock, purchasing and accounting typically takes 3 to 6 months for an SME. A migration from an existing ERP takes 2 to 9 months depending on the complexity of the data and processes involved. Every situation is different: a 30-minute conversation is enough to define a realistic timeframe for your case.

It is actually where Odoo is at its strongest. An industrial or trading SME needs precisely that: a commercial opportunity triggers an order, the order activates stock or manufacturing and the delivery generates the invoice. Odoo covers this complete cycle natively, without any external connector. Distribution, trading and manufacturing companies represent a significant share of Odoo projects in France.

Still undecided? A situation audit to help you choose

An online comparison cannot replace an analysis of your real situation: your sales process, your current tools, your integration constraints and your project budget are the true parameters of the decision.

ANOR is an organisation consulting and Odoo integration firm. Our organisation consulting is independent of Odoo: if another tool is better suited to your situation, we will tell you. Our 11 team members bring 63 combined years of Odoo experience among the partners, cover every version from 5 to 20 and have managed migrations lasting from 2 to 9 months.

  • We analyse your current sales process and identify your friction points.
  • We tell you whether Odoo CRM meets your needs or whether another tool is a better fit.
  • If Odoo is the right choice, we define the scope, the stages and a realistic timeline.
