How much does Odoo cost? The cost of Odoo line by line

The cost of Odoo breaks down into four lines: licences, hosting, implementation and enhancements. Only one can be calculated without meeting you: the licence, at €35.90 per user per month for the first year, then €44.90.

Odoo offers the "Custom" plan: an Odoo price per user of €35.90 per month for the first year, then €44.90 from the second year. This page explains what each budget line contains, from the Odoo licence to the Odoo implementation cost. It also helps you read a quotation, without displaying prices that would mean nothing for your situation.

The short answer

The complete cost of Odoo has four distinct lines. The first two are almost mechanical. The other two depend on your organisation, your data and your gap from the standard.

The four lines of the cost of Odoo

Licences

Billed per user per month. The only item that can be calculated by a multiplication.

Hosting

Odoo Online, Odoo.sh or a dedicated server, depending on the need for custom modules.

Implementation

Scoping, configuration, data migration, training and go-live.

Enhancements

Support, enhancements and version upgrades after go-live.

The Odoo licence: the Custom plan, one price per user

The Custom licence costs €35.90 per user per month for the first year, then €44.90 from the second year. It includes all applications, multi-company and external APIs. You choose neither an edition nor à-la-carte modules: the number of users is the only parameter.

Only internal users who log in to the back office count. Your customers and suppliers access the portal without a licence. To estimate your licence line, multiply the price by the number of users, then by twelve to get the annual figure.

Since Odoo 20, an internal user is classified as Light or Standard according to the rights assigned to them: the classification of your staff can be prepared with our guide on Light users.

Odoo hosting: Online, Odoo.sh or on-premise

Odoo Online (SaaS) is the simplest option, but it does not accept custom modules. Odoo.sh hosting takes your custom modules and provides test environments. A dedicated on-premise Odoo server gives you complete control, with the administration that comes with it: this is where managed Odoo hosting comes in.

The choice depends on your need for adaptation, not on the size of the company. It is settled at scoping and the SaaS, Odoo.sh or server page details each case.

Odoo implementation cost: six variables drive the quotation

The implementation price is costed for each organisation. It depends on six variables that thirty minutes of conversation are enough to qualify:

  1. the number of users and business functions involved;
  2. the functional scope: a few applications or more, one company or a group;
  3. the state of the data to migrate: a clean export or several spreadsheets to reconcile;
  4. the gap from the standard: what can be configured, what requires development, what comes down to a process change;
  5. the interfaces to build: suppliers, bank, payroll, a line-of-business tool you keep;
  6. the share your team takes on: availability for acceptance testing and data migration.

That is the purpose of the project scoping led by our organisation consulting practice: a free on-site situation audit, a process review and help with the ERP specification if you wish. You leave with a written scope before any costing. Discover our organisational consulting and process review.

An integrator who displays a price without having listened to you is selling a package, not a project.

Odoo support and maintenance: follow-up after go-live

A project doesn't end at go-live. You need to plan for support, fixes, enhancements and help with version upgrades: that is what an Odoo support and maintenance contract covers. This line is costed at the same time as the project, never afterwards.

Custom developments weigh particularly heavily here: each one has to be reworked at every version upgrade. It is the most expensive debt in an ERP project, hence the value of staying with the standard as far as possible.

The Odoo upgrade is planned from this stage. On Odoo.sh, the platform requires a supported version: migration is part of the life cycle. On a dedicated on-premise server, you choose the moment, bearing in mind that the publisher reserves its security fixes for the three latest versions.

How to read an integrator's quote

Four checks for any proposal, ours included:

  • Is the scope written down? A quote without a list of applications, interfaces and migrated data is not comparable.
  • Is training included? Once removed from the batch, it becomes the option that gets sacrificed.
  • Is custom work isolated? Each development must be costed separately, with its rework cost.
  • Is follow-up costed? A quote without a support line is incomplete.

Frequently asked questions about the cost of Odoo

€35.90 per user per month for the first year for the Custom plan, then €44.90 from the second year. It is the plan we recommend and it includes all applications.

Because it depends on six variables specific to your organisation. A 30-minute conversation is enough to qualify them. The written proposal then states its scope and assumptions.

A very limited scope can be started on your own. As soon as there is data to migrate, processes to write or interfaces to build, an Odoo integrator secures the schedule and the budget. A 30-minute conversation is enough to know which side you are on.

Only internal users who log in to the back office are billed. Your customers and suppliers use the portal without a licence.

Yes. During the first conversation, we show you Odoo on a flow close to your business: it saves you from discovering an empty Odoo on your own.

The answer is calculated on your own figures: re-keying time, closing lead time, tied-up stock, invoicing errors. We cost these items with you at scoping, on your real volumes, rather than announcing an average gain.

The licence covers the software and its updates by the publisher. Support, enhancements and help with version upgrades are covered by a separate Odoo maintenance contract, costed at the same time as the project.
