Financial and operational steering: decide on up-to-date figures

Financial and operational steering means reading your margins, your cash position and your budgets where your data is born: in Odoo, on the current month.

ANOR sets up the tools of financial and operational steering in Odoo: dashboards, margin tracking, cash flow forecasting, budgets and analytic accounting. Our consultants, all with hands-on business experience, then support the reading of the indicators and the decisions they call for. You decide with clarity, without a spreadsheet to rebuild every month. It is a financial steering and cash forecasting consulting engagement, which begins with a complimentary situation audit.

What does financial steering with Odoo cover?

When the speed and reliability of decisions make the difference, a clear reading of financial and operational indicators is no longer an advantage: it is a condition for staying competitive. An integrated ERP makes that reading possible because revenue, costs, receivables and stock come from the same database, with no export and no re-keying.

This support extends our role as an integrator. From structuring the information system to analysing management indicators, we cover the whole chain, with one constant aim: giving you the means to decide and steer with confidence.

Five steering levers, all inside Odoo

Each lever relies on a standard Odoo feature that we have checked and that we configure.

Dashboards

The Dashboards application and Odoo spreadsheets read your data live: sales, purchasing, stock, accounting, projects. Each manager has their own view, shared with the right people.

Margins

Margin per order and per line in Sales, cost price of a manufacturing order in the production overview, profitability per project from the time and purchases attached to it.

Cash flow

Aged receivables and payables, due dates, cash flow statement, bank synchronisation and automatic reminders: the position and expected receipts can be read every morning.

Budgets

Budgets per analytic account and per period, compared with actuals and commitments. Variances show up during the year, not at closing.

Analytic accounting

Several analytic plans at once: by job, by activity, by site. One invoice is split across each axis without double entry.

Financial statements

Balance sheet, profit and loss, executive summary, general ledger and trial balance can be consulted at any time, filtered by period, by company or by analytic axis.

Cash forecasting consulting: from reacting to anticipating

Cash is often the first indicator to deteriorate in silence: unpaid invoices piling up, supplier payments poorly anticipated, seasonality ignored. By the time the problem is visible, it is already late. Odoo lets you see it coming because your customer due dates, supplier commitments, orders and subscriptions feed the forecast directly.

  • A unified view of flows: expected receipts by due date, committed payments, synchronised bank balances, all without a spreadsheet outside the system.
  • Horizons suited to your cycle: three months for operational decisions, six to twelve months for investment, credit or hiring decisions.
  • Scenarios rather than fixed figures: in Odoo spreadsheets linked to the data, you test the effect of a late payment, a large contract or a seasonal dip before it happens.
  • Reminders that run on their own: reminder levels, a progressively firmer tone and manual exclusions, so that customer receivables fall with no extra effort.

We work at two levels: set-up (payment terms, bank journals, reconciliation rules, cash dashboards) and continuous improvement (analysis of variances between forecast and actual, parameter adjustments, training of your accounting and finance teams). All our work relies on Odoo Accounting: the ERP is enough and we use it to the full.

Margins and profitability: from the quotation to the workshop

Margin can be read at three levels in Odoo, each fed by operations. In Sales, each order line shows its margin based on the product cost. In Manufacturing, the manufacturing order overview compares the planned and actual cost of components and operations. In Project, the profitability panel sets invoiced revenue against time spent and purchases attached to the job.

For these figures to be right, two prerequisites: product costs kept up to date and an agreed inventory valuation method. We deal with them at scoping, before opening a single dashboard.

Our method for setting up financial steering

1

Indicator diagnosis

Which figures really serve your decisions, who reads them, how often. We start from your actual decisions, not from a list of standard indicators.

2

Analytic structure and budgets

Analytic plans, allocation rules, budgets per period and per axis are agreed with the finance director and your chartered accountant.

3

Dashboards and cash

Configuration of dashboards, reminders, bank synchronisation and forecasts. Each view is validated on your real data.

4

Guided reading

Regular review of variances with your teams, concrete recommendations, training in reading the indicators so that you become self-sufficient.

Management control for SMEs: processes, approval flows and training beyond the tool

Wrong indicators rarely come from the software. They come from an analytic plan nobody has agreed on, from spending committed outside the circuit, from a closing that drags on. We analyse your existing flows to reorganise approval circuits, automate repetitive tasks and make data collection reliable: that is the purpose of our organisation consulting.

We then train your teams, at their level and on their own cases: reading indicators, using dashboards, applying management control principles day to day. Our consultants remain available as financial sounding boards, able to suggest a corrective action at the right time. You focus on your business, we structure the tracking of your performance.

Odoo 20 AI for steering

Odoo 20 embeds AI in a particularly advanced way: AI agents in the applications, AI-computed fields and connection to external tools through the MCP protocol. Your steering benefit without heavy development: we check with you which uses bring a real gain before enabling them.

Frequently asked questions about financial steering with Odoo

For the vast majority of SMEs and mid-sized companies, no. Dashboards, spreadsheets linked to the data, financial statements and the sales, purchase and stock analyses cover the need. We add a third-party layer only when a specific case justifies it.

Yes. Customer and supplier due dates, aged balances, the cash flow statement and synchronised bank balances give the position and the expected flows. Scenarios are built in Odoo spreadsheets, linked live to the data.

Yes. Budgets are defined per analytic account and per period, then compared with actuals and commitments. A department head or a project manager sees their variance during the year.

Up-to-date product costs, an agreed inventory valuation method and time recorded against the right jobs. We check them at scoping: a margin calculated on a wrong cost is worse than no margin at all.

SMEs and mid-sized companies already on Odoo or in the middle of migrating, whose management wants to move away from spreadsheets without losing flexibility. Trading, recurring services and make-to-order manufacturing benefit the most.

As soon as master data and the analytic plan are agreed, the first views are built quickly on your real data. The initial diagnosis avoids building dashboards nobody will read.

Yes. The engagement covers configuring due dates, bank journals, reminders and cash dashboards in your existing Odoo, then supported reading of the variances. No overhaul is needed when master data is sound.

With a complimentary situation audit: we map your current indicators, spreadsheets and approval flows, then hand you a prioritised plan. Management control is then built in short batches, on your real data.
